Minors

ID Requirements

To receive a piercing, the minor must be accompanied by their biological parent or legal guardian, who is required to fill out all necessary paperwork and be present for the entire procedure. We understand that some parents/legal guardians don’t love needles, so we won’t require the parent to watch the actual piercing procedure. We require the parent/legal guardian to be present in the procedure room to ensure that sterilization standards have been met, proper aseptic technique is utilized, witness disposal of the needle, and to ensure that all questions have been answered. Under no circumstance will we pierce someone under the age of 18 without consent and presence of their parent or legal guardian.

Minors Under 12 (Earlobes Only)

We do not currently require identification for piercings on children 12 and under, since earlobes are the only piercings that we offer for this age group. We do not offer earlobe piercings on babies or toddlers. We will offer earlobe piercings on young children based on a consultation with the minor and their parent or legal guardian. (Please see “Children’s Earlobe Piercing” section in the “Piercing” tab.) Under no circumstances will we perform any piercings other than earlobes on a person under the age of 13.

It is our studio policy to have a piercer perform a consultation with a minor and their parent or legal guardian before any piercing procedure. This is done to ensure that both the minor and their parent understand the short-term and long-term potential risks associated with the procedure, the details of the procedure itself, the healing time and aftercare involved to properly care for the piercing, and answer any questions. While the piercer may be comfortable performing the piercing the same day as the consultation, some times the piercer may decline performing a piercing service on the child, if there are serious concerns about the ability to perform the service safely and accurately.

Minors 13-17

At 13 -17, we offer a large variety of standard piercings in addition to earlobe piercings, and we require current photo identification for the minor as well as their parent. For protection of the minor, we require the parent and the minor to have either a matching last name or address on the identification presented, to tie them together. If neither the last name or the address matches, we require photo identification for the minor and their parent, as well as a birth certificate or additional documentation demonstrating why your information is different (marriage license, divorce papers, name change, etc.).

If you are the legal guardian of a minor, you must provide court documentation that proves legal guardianship.

To protect the minor, their parent or legal guardian, the studio, and the piercer, we have established the following requirements for piercing a minor:

The parent/legal guardian and the minor must each present one of the following forms of identification:

*State Issued driver’s license or identification card

*Passport

*Military identification card

*Resident alien card

*Government Issued identification card for non-US resident (please consult with the piercer for more information about non-US resident requirements)
